So, let's say I go out to dinner and have a bite of this or a bite of that, and then top it off with the house's "special" dessert. Well, the next day I focus on clean food with maybe even a mindful eye on calorie intake.

A lot of us are out there watching what we eat and exercising, but still not making a dent in our bellies and body weight. There are a few things we are not doing, or doing too much of, that would mean major improvement.

I admit, like everyone else, I have Olympic fever. As a woman in my later thirties, you won't be surprised to learn that my hero is 41-year-old, mother of a 2-year-old daughter, and insanely fit swimmer Dara Torres.

The Olympics: 7 Fitness Lessons We Can Learn

How about, in an ode to the upcoming Olympics, we put together a simple little mini-challenge in our own lives. We don't have to work even a tenth as hard as they have, and it won't come down to just one moment if we make a mistake. What we should borrow from the athletes is commitment.

30 Minute Workouts for Your Busy Life

I work with a trainer from New York City named Mike Monroe, and Mike and I have a 10-day gift to you. We took all those reasons and created new 30-minute workouts for everyday that only use a ball and dumbbells and take up very little room. Mike runs you through the paces while I demonstrate, and all the workouts are created from of a 296 exercise video library we shot and have made available to you. You can watch each move and then download and print the exercises.

Most of us blow it out on the Fourth of July with fireworks, booze and red, white and blue cupcakes. With the biggest party of the summer now over, it's a good time to recommit to a fitness strategy.

A Realistic Workout Schedule

Let's face it if you don't get your exercise in by 2 p.m., the window of opportunity begins to close. Not to mention after a long day of work, or work and kids, who has the energy?

How about committing to three days of the week, getting it done in the morning, and one day on the weekend? If you have a commute or something that makes it unrealistic in the morning, do your workout at lunch. Who cares if you get sweaty? Eat a nutritionally-filled smoothie and bust it out for 30 minutes at lunch.

Be Consistent to Reach Your Goals

I believe we can integrate all sorts of change into our lives if we just keep chipping away at the ultimate goal. If you want to start your day an hour earlier, but only wake up earlier by 5 minutes each day, you will still make it to your goal within a few short days or weeks. Baby steps will get you up that mountain as long as you put consistent effort into getting there.

Finding Time to Work Out

Why can't people find enough time to workout? I just don't understand why it's not one of the top five most important things we do in our day/life. Take care of and love our families and friends, go to work or school, enjoy life, help someone out, and take care of our bodies. I'm sure you could switch something around, but you get my point.

After you read this, chart out what you do over the course of five days. Write down how much time is spent on the phone, at the computer for other purposes than work, making sure the house is perfect and so on. Is there a way to find that 30-45 minutes, 4-5 times a week to move your body?
